PostSubject: guestion about hadrurus   4/5/2011, 6:52 am

hi all , i have 3 hadrurus arizoniensis, a prego and 2 males , i was thinking about if you would recommend me putting them together if there are plenty of hides , and they are well fed, i have a exo terra wich messure 50 x50x90.as it is now they are in seperate plastic boxes , but i think they would give a great display in a dessert setup, i was thinking on building them caves in madres and cover it with sand , and mutiple exit in each and a piece in each corner ,they are all very docile so i hope , also because of i need the space /cheers michael

If one is gravid you want to definetly keep her seperated,

As for the other two i guess thats up to you, do you want to risk loosing any really? as far as im aware they are not communal however i beleive some people have had success with them communally, the same with V.spinigerus successful for some, failure for others.

However if you dont try you will never know Smile

If I remember rightly there is a thread on here somewhere where someone tried I think three adult H. arizonensis in a very large display case with numerous hides and he still ended up with cannibalism. I'll try to find it.

As bex says I wouldn't risk it with the gravid female and that leaves you with 2 males which might not be a good idea. Also as bex says though if you don't try you'll never know and a popular saying on here "they're all communal until they're not" Very Happy

Hmm I can't seem to find the thread I was thinking of but this thread may give you some hope. Good luck whatever you decide!

The Experiment: Comunal Hadrurus arizonesis/Hadrurus arizonesis pallidus

Hadrurus are known for being volatile to eachother, which is a reason why they are hard to mate. The only successful communal i've seen is from a few of the same brood that were always kept together.

as far as i could read in the article (the experiment) you linked to , it looks like its all worked out for them , there was a bit struggle in the start , but after a time they all settled in , and did just fine , but ok i will not risk loosing any , so i dont take the chance/michael
