Hi Guys

I'm pretty inclined to say my female Pt is pregnant too. Although not rare in the hobby, they are one of my top three favourite scorpions.
I will monitor her from now on and remove the male. I thought it was going to moult, but it would have taken too long so here you go!

I forgot about the red telson yours has. The pleural membrane is so dark on these too. I suspect you are probably right though.

Yes Mitchel, thats why I really want offspring of her. Havent seen these characteristics as pronounced as on this girl, anywhere. Maybe she will pass it on to her syblings..

I thought she just needed another moult to have a more dark telson. Cant say on the membrane. It is dark, but is this special on these kind of scorpions?

I cannot see any embryo yet, but because the membrane might be thicker or less translucent than on Andro species.. it is hard to tell 100% she is gravid.

She has the exact same behaviour as my gravid andro though and she does not want to mate, the male has tried several times.

Enough reason for me to start this topic. My fingers are crossed

Well best of luck there! I'm not sure if yours has an extra dark membrane, I've yet to keep this species. That telson is beautiful though.

I might say the membrane is normal on her.

Some also have a red-brownish telson, as I have seen on pictures on several boards, but not really as pronounced as this one. I think there is a lot of variety within this species.

Look at the ones from Gs. They are HUGE and brownish.. while mine are not that big and black

Thanks, will do! Smile Parabuthus are even crazier than androctonus (not as dangerous but more likely to stand ground and take a swing)

You shouldnt look at it that way Bex. Your scorpions still are the coolest and least demanding critters. I turned away from Ts, because scorps are so much more, well... they have more personality.

Seeing the youngsters, two weeks old run around with crickets in their mouth as big as they are, just is all worth it.

The species you are keeping, must be a very tough species to keep and as such I would let them go free and keep scorpions people know how to take care of.

:-)

Well, they might for instance need very good ventilation.. they might need the mourning dew, and gradually drying up because they are sensitive to it.

They might need a specific surrounding, where they can hide and dig and what not just to keep the temps and humidity they want.

Hell, they might even need a prey item you dont have... the problem can hide in a very small corner...

Try some Pitbulls of these, they're hardy. Just dont let them crawl over things or they eat your other scorps.

Update 29th July

She is definately gravid 100%. I can see embryo through her membrane. In this species the embryo appear darker. It is not as clear as Androctonus species, but its there. Jeej, if this one pops i'll have a hard time selling them. Love this species.
