moving scorpions to new house.

Hey guys. Anybody got any suggestions on moving scorpions to a new location? I'm moving into my new house I recently bought and I'm going to keep them in one of the spare bedrooms. Gotta move them just across town from our apartment to the new house. The only one I am mostly worried about is my P. Cavimanus( red claw ). She has made a burrow and has become a pethole. I rarely see her but I am worried that moving her enclosure may cause her burrow to collapse. Or would it be best to dig her out and transport her seperately?

I'd say the best thing to do is to dig her up and transport her separately. Just brake out a vial or container and line it in most tp or pt and coax her in after getting her our of her burrow. She'll most likely hate it, but its better to be safe than sorry.

I'm not sure about taking her out and moving her separately -- when my wife and I moved, we just loaded up all of our enclosures as-is and drove to the new place. The big tanks all held up their landscaping pretty well.

Yes, there's a slight risk to burrow collapse, but it's better than the guaranteed stress of digging her out and forcing her to dig a new one later on.

fair point, but it depends how the tanks are set up, and whether stuff is likely to fall over in the tanks.

Good point -- take out the heavy stuff, like water dishes and such, and just put those back in after the move.

Glad to see there's already a topic regarding my current concerns. But as you all know this is my first scorpion, and I am moving much further (from Florida to New York).

My husband got abrupt orders to go to Korea. I am most likely moving to New York and rooming with his sister while he's away but first I have to make sure my pets would be ok.
What do I need to know about driving a scorpion so far? It won't be too stressful, will it?

remove heavy objects from the tank as previously stated, keep the car at about 85 degrees F (she's an emperor scorpion), find some way to secure the tank so she won't go flying across the car... anything else?

Thanks guys. I began moving all the tanks tomorrow. The only heavy object in her tank is the water bowl. So I will remove it. I will let you know how everything once I get them moved. Gotta fine some shelves to store the tanks on.
