| There's a handful of Heterometrus spp. with more granulated chela and some even more so than the scorp pictured.
If it was big and black and from Malaysia, I can guarantee it's a Heterometrus sp. | |

| im afraid that could be anything really. its obviously heterometrus but that doesnt really narrow it down. im sure there must be some that are yet to be documented, they all look similar. | |

| According to what I've read Kovarik's Heterometrus review... if its in Penninsular Malaysia, the two possibilities would be H. spinifer or H. petersii... H. petersii would most likely be found towards the northern region since its natural distribution ranges all the way up to Laos and Cambodia. The predominant species found in main part of Pennisular Malaysia... would be H. spinifer...
a clear close-up of the prosoma granulations and a lateral view of the either chela would help determine that more accurately
