 Sweet new ball python

Just got a new ball python . werid part is the pet store tried telling me its a baby and its a good 2 1/2 feet long. even tho Ive had snakes before like red tails such Ive never had a ball python before does this sound right to you?

that is deffinately not a baby.hatchlings are from 9-12''.bps grow approx a foot a year. so yours on purchase would probably be at the least a year old..
my bp is just under a year old and is 22''.
