PostSubject: Scorpion in Cozumel, Mexico   Scorpion in Cozumel, Mexico Empty1/23/2011, 10:59 pm

Last August my new wife and I were on our honeymoon in Cozumel, Mexico. During our stay we found this scorpion in our room, who knows how long it could have been in there!
We never did get a straight answer from anybody on the island about the toxicity of the creature, it was either very deadly or not poisonous at all depending on who you asked, haha.
So hopefully one of you can clarify what type of scorp this is and if there was any danger?

Looks like a male Centruroides species to me...as to the exact species, I can't be sure. And the toxicity is probably pretty high...hard to tell since I don't know what the exact species is, but most of the Centruroides species down there give a pretty bad sting resulting in lots of pain.
