Outstanding! That D. diadema is wicked looking. I've never kept one of those before. What kind of set up do you need for it?

Thanks Very Happy They're arboreal, with moderate humidity and a little on the warm side. I've had her for a while now...only one of my inverts that I'd handle, lol.

Nice Collection! Ironically I just logged on to post some pix of some of my T slings as it was a big rehousing night here! I enjoyed your pics!

Right on! I kept 2 T's for a friend in need for a short time a few years ago, but I could never get into it. They're magnificent creatures, but I've never felt as comfortable with them as I do with Scorps.

Sweet collection Rob!! Thanks for sharing.

The only pictures where you can see the whole enclosure have a spiderling in a vial, though. Neutral But a few of them, like the P. smithi, I will be moving into small Kritter Keepers when they go up an instar.

I'm going to take a stab and guess that those are slings and that being said I'd assume the enclosures are appropriately sized. I'm sure you probably know this but just to throw it out there, slings require a little closer attention and you want to make sure that they can catch their food. Some looked aboreal also and I have noticed that my aboreal slings (H. Maculata and P. Irminia like to burrow at this stage so they don't need the extra height until they are a little larger). Hope this helps, it is of course, my humble opinion.

DLP nice dropdown box on your sig. I'm gonna have to try that as my list is getting longer and longer Smile

I can tell it's slings, I just think to keep them in those jars seems a bit to crowded + they don't have any hides... Good idea avicolor, to move them in to bigger enclosures Smile

I like to put hides in mine too but it is preference they are not really needed for slings. And I understand it is hard to tell that they are slings, when you get a good zoom shot of both T's and scorps they appear to be much larger and sometimes the small distinguishing features between juvi's and adults are not that apparent to people that have not had exposure to that particular species.

Well, for hides it wouldnt really hurt them to put a bit of a hide in there + the way some of them digs in to the dirt, kinda seems like trying to hide to me... and I think it doesn't really matter if it slings or what instar it's in, if the jar is nearly the same size as the tarantula I would say it borders to what is goable, but different people have different opinions on animal care...

And yes, it's allowed to roll your eyes at my stuck up attitude lol!

Even with the smithi, the spiders are considerably smaller than the vials. And it's not digging into the substrate so much as it is moving the substrate onto their webs, which they made around the plastic leaves I put in there. Except the tigrinawesseli. I appreciate your concern, though.

I am assuming you do not have much experience with spiderlings?

Doesn't really seems like it, the legspan is pretty much the same as the vials diameter (judging from the pictures).

Sorry for that one, I can see the leaves now that you tell me. I apologize for jumping to conclusions!

You'r welcome Razz

Aviculor wrote:

Hm, not that much, but enough to know that all creatures need some space to be able to move around a bit and a hide if they get stressed (which you have provided, so that's good). You can easily have spiderlings in small vials, but only up to a certain point and it seems (to me) that they have crossed that....

I'm sorry if you are offended by me pointing it out, but that is my opinion on desent care. But as I said before, different people have different opinions on animal care so please don't let me bother you! If people think that I was mistaken somehow in any way I would want them to point it out to me!

All is meant in a good way Smile
