Exo Terra Nightglo Moonlight - UV or no UV? Empty

I know some of you have talked about this and Im sure some might already know, but I was really curious about these bulbs and would they be harmful to scorpions.
Well I went to question them about the bulb and this is what I found:

There is not a lot of extra information on the actual output of the bulb other than the actual statements made about it in our catalog entry. I will retype that in its entirety, I think though, that it will answer most of your questions. Remember, this bulb is simulating moonlight, and that does not comprise of any UV rays to start with:

----------------------------
Night Glo
Moonlight Lamp
- Moonlight lamp
- Simulates natural moonlight
- Perfect for nocturnal viewing
- Provides tropical night time temperatures
- Stimulates breeding behaviour in reptiles and amphibians
- Can be combined with Repti-Glo or Sun-Glo for a 24 hours cycle

The bulb simulates natural moonlight to allow nocturnal viewing without disturbing the animal's day and night cycle. The light emitted is bluish due to the use of blue glass. The heat generated by the bulb is minimal but enough to provide tropical night time temperatures. The lower wattage of these bulbs does not interfere with natural night drops in temperature.
----------------

As you can see, the illumination provided is through incandescent means, this style of bulb produces little if any UV rays in any case. It is designed for illumination only and makes no claims or attempt to supplement UV to the terrarium. The actual colour of the bulb output is from the glass of the bulb, not any inherent output of the filament.

Chin Scratch So, is this bulb safe to have on your scorpions? Seems like its a much better option than a black light if anything.

Well scorpions dont need UV and i believe they DONT like it as well. Its bad for there eyes. I have that EXACT bulb for my Florida Bark scorpions and they are nice. Not really bright to disturb your sleeping if they are in your room and not enough brightness to bug them. Its all around perfect and the heat is decent. If you dont have venting, it may be too hot.

Do they have these bulbs? http://www.exotic-pets.co.uk/data/images/433m.jpg

The Exo Terra heat glo is what I use and it's been doing a great job. The red lighting doesn't disturb my scorpions and allows for great night viewing as well.

I once contacted Exo Terra with the very same inquiry and they assured me that their Night Glo bulbs emit no UV light whatsoever. I've used them before and the lower wattage models don't seem to disturb the scorpions at all. I wouldn't necessarily recommend having them on all night, every night, but I think they're perfectly safe for night time viewing.

If you need additional heat at night, I would recommend using a slightly higher wattage red lamp like H. laoticus mentioned.

Yeah. I just find it interesting because so many people like to view them "glowing in the dark" but have been told UV is not good for them. So this seems to be somewhat of a solution at least but what has me curious is I thought the glowing was a direct reaction to UV light. So is it maybe a reaction to the purple colour bulb and not the UV?
