Well, success story #3, I'm batting 2 of 3 being unintentional! At least I've done this a couple times now and saw this coming. But jeeesh!! Smaller brood please? I hope when I mean to do this I get broods this big!!

So rather than condiment cups anyone have any ideas on how to set up a brood for easy care? I tried a tackle box last time but these guys climbed out right away. I am finally down to 10 with the exception of the 9 spoken for scorplings, just don't want another 40 little containers to have to open every couple of days :/ I'm open to suggestions here I have T - 7 days to get set up!! Thank you in advance for any good ideas Smile Otherwise at least enjoy seeing this white mountain on my girls back!

haha
Congratulations??

For being a smaller species they really have enormous broods!
I've seen some methods for dealing with a lot of babies, but I can't remember exactly how they had their containers set up or where I saw it.
I did a little online searching and I found some stuff that may be useful. Check out this site: http://www.craftamerica.com/storage_containers__page_5.htm
That plastic storage box which is the second to last one looks promising and it even lists the dimensions.
Here's another: http://www.kolinskyartbrushes.com/product.php?productid=30949&cat=0&path=alt&page=13&js=n
http://www.sourcingmap.com/white-plastic-212-adjustable-compartments-fishing-tackle-lure-bait-box-p-18359.html
http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails1.asp?RecID=4440

This site has very large tackle boxes that don't look too bad: http://www.uni-plastic.com/Tackle%20Box.htm
However I think the company is overseas haha

Hopefully these may be of some use although you did state you tried tackle boxes already, some of these are art boxes lol. I'm not sure if your tackle box resembled any of these, but thought I'd give it a shot. I basically searched up "plastic organizer" or "plastic organizer box with compartments," etc.
Searching up "plastic tackle box" has some relevant results, too.

By the way, if they're still able to climb out, you can try swiping on a layer of vaseline and that should stop them.

Yeah, getting spanked!! Well, I have enough spoken for now which will carry me into the stash of the new slings Smile But that still leaves a lot of babies to house. I was half tempted on just trying to house them together and see what happens, but I think that may be cruel and will probably suck up the condiment containers again! Sad

The title of this post has made me the happiest person alive, I think.

Congrats on the little ones. I found the easiest way to do this is with a ton of plastic beer cups and a box. (Of course, I've only dealt with it once when my buddies Jackso popped and I needed a quick rigging).

Get a larger box (or with that many scorps, multiple boxes) and layer the bottom row with plastic beer cups. I've found that the cups are too smooth for them to climb (at this size) and the flaps (lid) of the box allows a quick way to regulate temp and humidity for the lot of them.

If you try this, I do reccomend watching to ensure they actually cannot get out of the cups. I never have faith with the "it worked before" when it comes to scorps.

Glad you dig the title Smile
I tried the tackle box method but my dividers had ridges on them. Beer cups would be a cheep way to go for sure. I was thinking of doing this with baby food jars as I started saving those when my son was a baby and still had a couple of boxes of them. The condiment containers I am currently using is the same material as the plastic beer cups and they couldn't get out. I'm still slightly leery with a 4 year old running around Smile
But that would solve the issue with opening that many containers ever other day! Thanks for the idea!

Awesome news this time!! I had discovered another Hottentotta Trilineatus Brood! Which is good because my girl with Mycosis lost two legs. They just fell off while I was trying to apply some vagisil.
I'll get some pictures up soon. I have them in a communal set up and I think these things are almost ready to come off of moms back so I'm gonna split all the scorps up for a bit and after the babies are off I'll reintroduce them all back in the tank, save the babies of course Smile Way too many scorplings at the moment! Hottentotta broods are welcome additions though - I'll hit a full 40 gallon tank by spring at this rate!

I'm curious about the separating of the brood, is there an issue with keeping them together? I've only had one brood before and left them all together with no problem.

I don't know Bro, I've thought about that too. I know some species are alright like some Heterometrus sp. but everything else I've seen has directed otherwise. I even contemplated it on this post before and received the same feedback. The more babies I have the more tempted I am to just leave them in with the adults and see how many survive. I feel a little guilty but how does that work in the wild not to mention I have a lot of darn babies at the moment! More pics and explanations of that to come in a moment!!

Alright my 3rd brood turned into my 5th brood! I had one Hottentotta Trilineatus pop and one of two of my H./V. Spinigerus pop, then I had the 2nd one pop.. kinda sucks considering I'm not trying to breed those and am still giving away my first brood of them. The 1st brood of H. Trilineatus I'm keeping for the communal set up 7 of which are still alive of 8.

Tonight I noticed a mound on the back of one of my H. Trilineatus so I tore the tank apart to separate the adults and found a 2nd one. So 2 H. Trilineatus popped and all the scorplings on both have molted also so all are 2i already. Fairly big broods for them at least compared to the last one although some got munched is my guess.

I just got my enclosures set up for the H. Spinigerus. I guess I'm giving those to the H. Trilineatus and have to make another bin of enclosures for the H. Spinigerus this weekend! Anybody want any scorps? Bex get your but cross the pond!

I'm actually thinking about keep all the H. Trilineatus and throwing them together in a 40 gal communal. That was the original plan. I may do this with all Females though, lol! Otherwise the babies are growing up with the adults and if they don't make it they don't make it. I'm stopping at 40 gal regardless!

Well, enjoy the pix Smile Here are the Hottentotta Trilineatus broods!

Nice man! I'm jealous Smile I miss my H. trilineatus scorplings lol

As for the spinigerus...with all your numbers man, I would honestly just toss em in a communal bin and feed a LOT of crickets. Cannibalism will happen...but you don't have very many options at this point.

By the way, if you wish to house them individually, you can go to a fast food restaurant and take some of their small containers they have out for condiments.

LOL he isn't bad just wanted a bigger one so I got the haitian brown bird eater..LOL now he's cool... here for a while I have been adding a new pet to the collection (including viv) about 1-2 a week.... 3 weeks ago I added the crested..last week was the frogs this week was the Haitian brown and an new male gerbil.... but I have been looking into getting new scorp's I really want something other then emps also... I want a death stoker but the wife keeps saying no..LOL... I guess you could say I'm lucky I can keep collecting and no real limits yet... I built my entertainment center around my viv's LOL and now I'm looking at building more stands for more room... I'm hoping to get up to around 15 or so scorpions including the planned 10 emps.. I guess you could say I got the bug for them....but I was leaning to either a bark scorpion or desert scorp next just haven't desided which....
