disabling prey for my emp???

hey guys sorry if it sounds stupid, but im wondering how to disable crickets effectively so it ok for my scorp?

pull the biggest legs off the cricket, it stops them from jumping and all they can do is crawl around

or squeeze them a quick good one in the middle, should kinda perma stun them so they move slower, its what i do for my emp.
