Went and bought a new tank today and set it up as follows... the haet mat is on the back wall. There is a choice of under the bark or the plant pot. Any suggestion more than welcome

looks good...
make sure you have a bare minimum of 4 to 6 inches of substrate for burrowing...

if you dont wanna do that, you have more than enough stuff for it to hide under
=)

is that cord in the tank?

wow, that was fast!
You changed the whole thing already lol
It's looking good and yes, the cord is better outside because these guys climb up whatever the can find.

id be more worried about the heat matt being on the inside than the cord lol

We are using the exact same tank for our 5 H.madraspatensis scorplings too, looks like quite a popular tank (prly as it only cost like £13 or something lol)

Ive been told so many things about the heat mat, first it was to put it inside under the bark, then outside on the side, outside underneath, ive placed it about everywhere i think..lol
Im going to leave it how it it and tape the cord to the side, ive mede it deeper one side but he's not much of a climber or burrower and is currently under the plant pot happily eating. he has a piece of barlk to go underneath as well. If it seems like he is upset i will change it more but think ill leave him for the time being to see how he gets on. I bought some gauze and cut it so it fits snugly into the top of the tank and cut the plastic lid up so i can place that on top to keep the heat in but it lets the air in as well.
thaks for all your advice

anyone on here can tell ya that you should put it half covering the back and half covering a side of the tank...
or just put it on the whole back...
outside the tank
=)

Well it definatly shouldn't be inside the tank o dont know why others didnt say something it should be outside the tank on the side, heat matts are not supposed to come in contact with dampness or water at all so you will find that hard keeping it inside the tank considering you new to keep the humidity up, and the reason it's not supposed to go underneath is because the scorpion then cannot escape the heat as they will borrow to escape it
