Looking for something new Empty
PostSubject: Looking for something new   Looking for something new Empty10/10/2010, 4:59 pm

Hoping to add to my collection again, as apparently obsession has set in and risen in full swing.

I think I've got a lockdown on the Humid world of scorps have been lucky enough to see molts, mites, trauma, tunnels, climbing and crickets.

I feel, like a kid with a "big boy bike", that it's time to take that next step.

I'm hoping to add a desert species to my collection. I've backlogged a years worth of posts on this site the last week or so, and was hoping to narrow down my search for our arid friends by asking a few questions.

Question the First:

Hoping to find a species that is willing to actively pursue prey. There must be something out there that's willing to leave their hide and Rambo 3 themselves in that desert. Any suggestions?

Question the Second:

Any species that tend to use their sting to catch moderate sized prey (crickets, etc) more than others? (As of this point, all my scorps are "crushers", and I'd love to study both sides of their world).

Question the Third:

Are you getting sick of me adding "Question the..." in front of each question? (Please laugh, please laugh at my joke! clown )

Question the Fourth:

Are there any species that you prefer to study/enjoy/watch/build enclosures for/breed ? Why is that species your preference?

Really, I'm just looking for something new, and something different. Preferrably, something that I can legally bring into Canada, and whose life I won't destroy.

Any suggestions, input, comments, or laughings at my awesome joke are welcome!

You are welcome!
If you want to try a buthid Orthochirus sp are small active with low venom,if you can find these I highly recomend them and can be kept in colonies. If you want something bigger that is a buthid try Babycurus sp. they fit your criteria.

Desert species that sting their prey and hunt down their prey I would go with Hadrurus Arizonensis/Spadix if you want size, Hottentotta species if you want quick backflipping stinging fun, Androctonus bicolor/australus/mauriticanus if you want to go hot.

If you live in Canada like I do there are no species in the world that are illegal to import. You need absolutely no papers to receive scorpions in the mail worldwide, I've imported before so I know first hand.

Also where in Canada are you situated? I may know someone close to you with something you might like since no one is shipping to canada anymore because of weather now, or if they do theres a good chance of DOA.

I'm in Edmonton mate. I'm looking at either a bi-color, or some Hottentota.

Not sure If i'll be able to make it out that way anytime soon, maybe over christmas sometime, but if you are interested i'm selling hottentotta caboverdensis 3i's and could drop some off if your still interested when i'm visiting my brother near 97th by the yellowhead. I live near saskatoon atm so a tiny bit of a drive unless going to see the ol ladies parents near camrose.
