Hello All, I had just wanted to post up some recent pics mostly for enjoyment save for one minor question... enjoy Very Happy

I had recently had a molt with my H. Spinifer babies. The last of 4 has molted for me for the 1st time and I believe they are all 4i now, but not 100% They are looking pretty black now, save the fresh guy Very Happy Looks like a couple of them are close to another molt already! It was a big molt weekend in my house as a bunch of baby T's had molted also!

Here are a couple of some Hottentotta Trilineatus; 1st of which is for enjoyment, I love these guys!

This pic however shows a little black spot on one of them that I have no idea what it is. I can almost see one on the main joint of her last leg on the same side too. They don't seem to bother her at all as she is just as active as the others. I'm not sure if it is an old wound from a scuffle or what. Any ideas?? Input here would definitely be appreciated. Very Happy

Here's a shot from my sons super worm farm. We got a bunch of Darkling beetles from it and when I put some carrot peals in they go nuts. Decided to take a pic and realized how festive it was! Happy Halloween all!

Here's a couple more shots of one of my Hottentotta Trilineatus babies. There is a cotton swab behind in one of the pics to get an idea of how tiny these guys are. I randomly lost one to unknown causes the other day, that sucks, but it had to be natural as the others seem to be doing so well. (I hope anyways)

Lastly this is not a scorp (obviously) but my baby B. Smithi (Mexican Red Knee Tarantula). I love these things and was so excited to have her molt again! She was all greyish purple when I got her and molted 1x resulting in a perfect black circle of hair on her abdomen. She just molted again and is looking beautiful, just had to share!

Also wanted to add I am starting to put together pix on a flickr account. Anyone know an easy way to post pix up from one of those? My pix are located at the below url if anyone wants to see what else I'm getting up there. Since I got a new camera a few weeks back I've ended up with alot of pictures and am just trying to organize and make them available now. Feel free to check em' out and stay posted for more soon, and also let me know if anyone is using Flickr and able to post to the forum from there.

the black spot on the adult hottentotta looks like it may be mycosis
it can be taken care of with a q-tip and vagisil cream (funny i know haha)
just dab it on lightly and over a little time it will go away (dont get stung it realy hurts)

im thinking it could be scaring or mycosis its not easy to tell from pics with that stuff

but its treatable if it is mycosis so if you treat it and dont see any difference within a month
or so then its mostlikely just some scaring

Was typing my response when you posted again Very Happy below is my original response, and per the new one, thanks I will treat it just to be on the safe side, I was thinking that it was getting a little smaller but it is hard to tell I just know it wasn't there a little while back.

-original response below-
That sux to hear, the bright side is that it sounds like that is a sound resolution so I will definitely try it out and post up pix if I can differentiate this scorp from the rest after it's gone. The 3 females kinda look a like and when only 1 or 2 are out at a time and rarely all of them it makes it hard to tell which one I'm looking at Very Happy

So onto another question now, what is the best way to hold this scorp to dab the vagisil on? I'm hoping that if I get her in a medium deli cup she will just freeze up as normal but am not sure how she will react after the first dab. I'm also thinking that there was a bit on her leg like I mentioned before so she may get a few dabs and I'm wondering if she'll do some laps after the first one.

At least I have some of the cotton swabs from the hospital so they have significantly more reach then normal swabs to clean your ears with Very Happy

Thank you for your help

if it has it on a leg than it could very well be mycosis i would treat it and see to be safe

but as far as getting it done i would use a deeper cup so it can get out on you
and its a bad place to be but just as long as its done softly it should stay put
and be doen pretty easy just be sure not to glob it on

once a week on the spot should be enough to treat it

Cool thank you, do you treat it until it is gone then if your recommend 1x per week? I will be picking stuff up today.

Also for a communal species if you remove one to do something like this there shouldn't be any problems putting them back in the same set up right? I'd assume that to be the case but have always pulled them all out and put them all in at the same time so I thought I'd ask to be on the safe side.

Thanks again Very Happy

yeah treat it untill it goes away and keep an eye on it to see if it starts going away
i would give it 6 or 8 weeks to realy notice it

and yes you can put it back in without a problem bro your good to go
