im new to keeping scorpions but i know that with my reptiles you should get them out of the tank straight away, empty the tank and clean it with a special reptile mite spray or liquid of some saught. then wash it a couple of times with water incase the scopions could react badly to the mite killer stuff. then keep them on kitchen paper or something for a little while so the mites cant live in the tank.May work but im not sure, you possibly could use wet tissue as a substrate for a while possibly to keep humidity up. or even spray the scorp with a water sprayer and that may wash a couple of the mites off without stressing the scorpion too much

Are the mites non-moving and most heavy around the joints and / or booklungs?

If so, you have the bad ones. A thin layer of vaseline will asphyxiate them, and you can wipe of the dead bodies in a couple days.

Alternatively (or to supplement this), check your other tanks for predatory mites -- little white or brown specs that run around. These feed on the bad mites and will be good to add to the infested tank.

If you can't find the predatory mites, leave a piece of prey leftovers in the tank, and you're sure to find plenty within a couple of days.

Depends what mites they are...

Can you describe them? If they have a reddish hue to them and are tear drop in shape (look under a magnifying glass) and are moving around, then its nothing to worry about - they are predatory mites.

However if they are absolutely miniscule, white in colour and are not moving at all, then I'd suggest you clean the entire tank thoroughly.

That was my thought as well.

I'd suggest thoroughly cleaning out your tank.

I doubt a thorough cleanout is necessary -- sounds like a mix of predatory mites and springtails or pinheads.

Just clean out the leftover prey and you'll be fine.
