o.O interesting... but they're doing well in the same terrarium.. and they are identical in both size and appearance. i caught them in malaysia, langkawi. and there were a lot of them around. but the ones i saw were living alone in a burrow. how about the one on the right of the first pic?? that i might need to know..

oh i've been googling and trying to find out which scorpion this might be and could one of them be a H.longimanus?? i have heard that the males have a long pedipalps and females have shorter ones right? and i'm certain that this scorpions are all female. i've checked and i'm sure the one on the right is a female. i'm still trying to find out what species these are. can you give me a list of heterometrus genus names so i may google them and compare images. thank you Smile

They don't appear to be spinifer, but could they be H. cyaneus?
Here's a link to what this person has identified as cyaneus although I can't really confirm if they are: https://scorpionforum.darkbb.com/scorpion-pictures-videos-f13/001-heterometrus-cyaneus-t3812.htm

I know they are not laoticus, but I am not going to rule out petersii.
Hopefully LXDNG79 will jump on this--try messaging him.

Not H. cyanus or and very different from petersii..... and not the same body proportions as H. spinifer... despite the similarities of the granulations on the prosoma...

the vesicle is more streamlined towards the auculus and the telson seems dark... indeed a strange one... the femoral spines are prominent... smaller in size....

if the locality is Thailand, Vietnam... and even the island of Koh Samui... it might just be H. cimrmani... named after the person who kept a load of scorpions and noticed the sexual dimorphism that distinguished this from H. spinifer (Korvarik, 2004)...

i may be wrong... its just a guess

i caught 4 of them in malaysia, langkawi. there were LOADS of them all over the place. but unfortunately 2 of them passed away. one recently about 4 days ago. now i have 2 of the adults and 13 little ones. the little ones were from the scorpion in the right in the first picture. after looking at the link you posted i have noticed that the telson is of different to the ones i have. could they possibly be a little cross bred?? or is it impossible to cross breed scorpions because i've never come across anything like that before. i've tried to look at the image of H. cimrmani but however, google has nothing Sad could you post some images so i can compare since kejser said that they arent the same. thanks. much appreciated!

you may download Kovarik's 2004 review of the genus Heterometrus...
http://kovarex.com/scorpio/pdf/2004-Heterometrus.pdf

P.S. pin this free pdf download for anyone regarding the Heterometrus genus... its may seem exhaustingly extensive but check locality and morphological descriptions.

you're most welcome....

you never know.... island populations isolated from any mainland... might bear a new species... its not the first time it happened.. LOL

but good job on the photos... and try to find some males... they would/might have sexual dimorphism that can dictate speciation... I think Kovarik mentions a number of species in the beginning where the females all look identical without being able to compare them from one another.

if any die off you can always send the dead 1(s) to someone to id it or do a dna scan
so if you send a dead 1 to someone that can id it for sure that will get you a 100% id
i just cant think who could do that for you off the top of my head
