| ok so my 2 1/2 year old bearded dragon draco deficated this morning upon looking at him afterwards i saw he still had a small bit of what seemed to be feces hanging out of him so i got a paper towel and tried to clean him up a bit and when i tried to wipe it away i felt it was very solid, and slipped out a bit when i tried to remove it, when it finally came out i was very puzzled, it was about 3/4 inch long and looked like an extremely withered apple core (best comparison sorry) it was skinny though. to me it looked like what a scorpion would leave while mating, a spermatophore, or however you spell it. i couldnt tell what ti was but its kind of bothering me. please help sorry i would post a pic to help describe but my dad flushed it before i could.
thank you | |

| Have you tried looking for a beardie or lizard forum? Maybe you could ask there if you can find one. | |

| Curious what substrate you have your beardy on? If it is calci-sand or crushed walnut hull it could very well be impacted. Both of these substrates are bad for them and have cause death in many herps. It simply plugs up their intestinal tract. Better to have them on precleaned playground sand from Lowes or Home Depot. No matter what though I'd make sure that you feed it in a separate container so that it doesn't accidently ingest the sand! I know that it has been some time since you posted; and I hope that your beardy is still alive. If not though, it is my hope that this will at least help someone else! | |

| I have always kept my beardies on bird seed... that way if they eat it it's food and safe... was something a breeder recommended | |

| It sounds like impaction to me. Zonata is right sand and small rocks is a no no for beardies. If you dont keep them in sand im not sure what it could be, but it should be a warning if you see that that more bad stuff is happening inside your dragon. | |

I second this post. Or, if you want the quick and easy way, get thin lined cage carpet. Won't hurt em, Beardies don't care, and no possible impaction or over eating.

| Did you take any pictures of that thing that came out? When I was still keeping my green iguana, things that sound similar came out in one moment. At first I thought it was some kind of parasites. In the end I sent the thing to a herp specialist who examined it under a microscope. It appeared to be some kind of skin/tissue from the intestines.
He was treated with Metronidazole (Flagyl) and these things stopped appearing.
