| As the title says . . . my H. arizonensis burrows have a habit of collapsing, even the last one she dug one that was nice and deep. I'm using some sand I picked up at Petco (forgot the brand) with a bit of coco fiber mixed in, soaked, and left for a few days to dry before introducing the scorp. Any thoughts? Should I use a coarser sand, or add some salt so it would "crust" more when it dries? Although it was kind of cute watching her dig a new tunnel last night with a roach sticking out of her mouth. I can't believe how long I waited to get this species. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| add some flower soil to your substrate, mix it and tamp it tight. |

| why not mix in a little escavator sand. I haven't used it before but I hear it works well mixed with sand. and I am still mad that I don't have a H. Arizonensis yet and they live in my state. |

| Is that the stuff that you mix water in with and it hardens? If so, what ratio should I use with regular sand? *just found it online* Yeah, I know what you're talking about now. So should I soak a mix of this stuff and regular sand, and let her do the digging? Thanks for the input, guys. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| Scott doesn't recommend it but some people stand by it. I don't use it so I'm not sure of the ratio at which you can mix it with sand and not effect the resilience or have it sticking to the animal. I've seen some pretty nice setups made with it though |

| Yeah that's the stuff. I read somewhere on AB that it was like 1:1 then you wait for it to dry. Don't quote me on that, so I would do a quite search on AB. |

| Sweet, I'll do that (search). Thanks guys. Edit: Success! Cyris69 had great results at 70% regular sand, 30% excavator. I'll go pick some up next time I'm around Petco. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| I used 100 percent escavator...not my best idea. I'm gonna try it again. -Eddy |

| Yeah, I know. Last thing I want is her getting mycosis (or the stuff sticking to her while it's setting). _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
