Can i use natural lavainstead of pea gravel for a false bottom setup, or will it hurt the scorp?
Will the water saturate at the same degree?

as long as you wash it off first, your scorps should be okay. I used bark chips for my false bottom. There is not really a right way or wrong way of making one as long as you're not using stuff that might poison your pet.
