Don't worry, we're all just chasing our tails once every so often. I think today is that day for me. I couldn't sleep last night. Looked at scorpions a big chunk of the night. hehe. So now I am loopy. Sound's like you are good to go though huh? Smile

Excellent Idea. You may consider holding them to 3i's if any of the pet stores are sub par. They need fed and misted lightly often at that age in little cups I think when 2i. 3i's are a little tougher. But if any of them are attentive, they should be fine, especially if you bring them in labeled deli cups and they are clean and all animals well taken care of. Good stores are out there... But best of all, you get to experience it, and help hold down over collecting for our hobby in the forests of Africa. Yeah. Plus, if they make a decent profit off of them, and it isn't a big hassle, they will care more about them I hope. Smile

im not looking to actually profit from it. more looking to break even and not cost me anything. On an average, about how many actually live once they have been around for about 3 months or so.

Well, I've heard of unexplained disasters online every blue moon. But me? I've lost 2 scorpions max in a brood once. One cannabalism and one natural? death. It was a very communal C. vittatus 2i cage. But that was one of dozens of broods. Most loose 0 or 1 for me. I would say .5 scorpion per brood. But I never had Pandinus broods either. Yeah, I mean, if you break even, and you get to tell your friends you sell scorpions to the pet store, who cares? Smile Plus, if you ever decide you want to get a new species, you can probably trade a brood for some other cool species too. Don't worry, they will be loved I'm sure! And while no one is going to get rich breeding a pair of scorpions, it is a rewarding experience that will benefit you in ways you haven't even thought of yet I'd bet. good luck

Ok . . . you want a female, but don't want them to mate, but still want them in the same tank?

Make up your mind. tongue

Brood = the number/batch of scorplings that have recently been born. So it usually refers to 1st instar.

Yeah, when they crawl out of mom onto her back at birth, they are 1i. They all will molt once before they scatter. Once they molt they are 2i. Next molt 3i. And so on.... until Adult. (some will say sub-adult for age before last molt)

Just to add, I think they usually mature at 6i for males and 7i for females.

Just in case you're wondering Smile

kk thanks cause im looking to start breeding. I watched a video that said by the time they hit 2i, give em a few days for there new exo to harden then you can seperate them from mom. That you can put them in a container all by themselves and start by feeding them 1 cricket or so. something they can pick apart.
