| Bought a cheap exo-terra hygrometer and was wondering where to put it. Up high, next to his burrow? I know they aren't supposed to be accurate but it was cheap. |

| i bought one of those newer more expensive hygrometers. its from zilla and its a hygrometer and a thermometer built into one. i dont know how accurate it is but i keep it away from the heat lamp and in the top corner.. i would think its accurate cause when it dries out the humidity goes down to like 60% then when i pour water into the substrate, it goes back up to 80%. i guess just try to keep water away from the hygrometer like when u spray water into ur tank try not to spray it at the hygrometer.. |

| I also put mine in top ,because the humidity tend to raise up from the Buttom ,but when i buy a new one i use to wrap some wet clothes around it and let it be for a Half hour or so ,then it should say 100% ,dont really know if this help , but was a trick i once Got for getting more accurate mesuaeres .anyhow i just use mine A's a guideline -even my l.mucronatus are doing Well when just giving water every 3-4 Day ,keeping the hygrometer swinning between 60-75 %. So i dont believe to much in Them , |

^ He is right, this is how you calibrate a hygrometer It should be done every 3 weeks to a month to keep it reading decently accurate. |

| How did I never see this thread?
The best place to put your hygrometer is in the garbage can.

| Just pour some water onto the substrate so that it is damp, not soaking and that should give you about 80%-90% Assuming its coco fibre and a sp that requires decent humidity |

| If you like to know for sure, get an aquarium, where you know it's always 100%. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
