Another pregnant M. gibbosus died.Help plz Empty
PostSubject: Another pregnant M. gibbosus died.Help plz   Another pregnant M. gibbosus died.Help plz Empty1/10/2010, 10:22 am

I have just lost my 2'nd pregnant female.I lost one a little year ago.
The first one was kept, dry (sand, gravel mix) (a weekly mist on 2 sides) normal roomtemp with only a spotlight 10h a day for extra heating.
Second one I kept the same way with a heating mat on one side..I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong Chin Scratch
They are normally easy too keep but I have no succes with the pregnant female..I have a 3'rd female (hopefully pregnant) and I wouldn't loose her too.Her I keep warmere just too be sure it's not a heating problem.
My concern is if they are sensitive to loud noises/sounds as I have some neighbours who sometimes goes partyfreaks with some high music..Not often but again Chin Scratch Could that be a reason ? Thats not a problem with the rest of my scorps, spiders ect..but maybe pregnant Mesobuthus sp. are more sensitive ?
I'm looking for any good advise/tips with these sp. or Mesobuthus spp. in generally or just if you think you have something I could use Surprised Thanks
They have all been WC species...The first two was pregnant when I got them. The 3'rd one I have mated with an old male I have kept for over a year.

Could it be that you're giving them too much heat?

I dont think so..with the heating mat on one side my second female did spend much of the daytime near the side where the heat was.I think there is between 18-30 celsius (night/day) depends on the season..in the winter there is 18/25 and in summer there is 21/30 (night/day)

I have been keeping those buggers for over 3 years, without any prob.I do not heat them at all, nor do i mist them.A weekly mist is too much for them i think.I mist mine once a month or so.Temps are up to 20 C in the winter (can tolerate way lower) and 30 summer.
I can party sometimes with them with no probs!I do not think they are so sensitive

PS.: mine are wild caught too

Do you know age? They may have been old.I do not know of any parasite in greece that infects scorpions.
My guess is old age, if it had no signs of mycosis on its lungs

Hey

I dont know how old the females where as they was adult when I got them.
I have no problem with keeping them generally (I think) Its just my pregnant females that give me problem..They seems to die after some time before they giving birth Crying or Very sad
I only spray a little for them to drink as they are keen to drink the droplets..Dont know if this is harmful but they seems to like it.Humidity isn't raising much from that. Its gone the next day.
I will cut up the last dead female in a day or two to see if she really was pregnant, but she was very very fat and she didnt eat much so I'm guessing she was..Will get back on that when I have cut her open.

Hey again..

I cut her open but I think it was to late..Most of her insides was rotten..If she wasn't pregnant after all she must have had some stomach problems all the time I had her, as she being so fat all the time..I really through she was pregnant (maybe she was?) but it makes me sad thinking she maybe was deadsick and should have been 'put to sleep' a long time ago Crying or Very sad
Now I will put more extension to my last female (cut down on water) and hope for the best.

Fiend: Have you breed these at any time ? If,was there any problems with birth or there first time, molting ect. (1in - 3in) ?
