ok i have about 4-5in of dirt in my cage my scorpions dug a berior to the bottom of cage does that mean i dont have enough dirt in their or what??should i feel it back up? also they dont come out at night mutch at least that i see... i have a 60watt black light that i switch out for night time are they sencitive to black lights???

what did he do at the bottom of the cage?

well anyway 5 inches isn't really enough, try and get as much in there as possible.. the more the better.

and most scorpions aren't very active, they seldom leave thier burrows apart from sometimes during the night. whenever they do it you aren't likely to see it.

either way, a scorp that stays in it's burrow alot is a happy scorp. And you don't need the black light.

yea i figured it might just need more dirt it dug all the way to the bottom like a craytore. well thats good to know its happy cause they are allways in it i made a pretty good one i need to take pictures and putt it on here but im pretty new at this stuff as you can tell. lol.. also i put the black light in there for heat cause its getting colder. but i think im going to get a heat pad and stick it on the glass.. thanks.

if by "black light" you mean the normal black like that makes them glow ive heard its harmful to scorpions to have long exposures to it, so I wouldn't use it as a night time light. But if by "black light" you mean those blueish night time lights then go hard, red lights also work at night to see them.

yeah not sure i would think its ok cause the lady at the store i bought the scorpions from sold the light to me its the one for night time one was out lastnight and i was not seing any glowing or nothin so hopefully its the right one they seem ok i guess..

Five inches is plenty of substrate.

Emps will routinely burrow to the bottom -- you don't have anything to worry about.
