PostSubject: My new Avic enclosure   6/13/2009, 6:04 pm

I had a go at constructing my own terrarium and though I'd share the results Smile. It's for my new subadult Avic avic and this is my first proper enclosure for a large T so any feedback welcome Very Happy

You can tell you have a happy spider by the amount of webbing it has done to its burrow..

My large (nearly an inch bl!) Female audax:



The female above gave me a nasty bite to the face, ill copypasta my bite report from tus later..

some of my males:











Im going to find more Phidippus species in the future.. My targets:

californicus, apacheanus, octopunctatus, adumbratus.

If youre in socal and know of any good places to look, please let me know! both of my mature female audax are guarding fertile eggs, so I should be up to my elbows in slings, soon..

I just use Flickr. It's easy to use, you can upload full size images and they even have an app.

No but i have a big colony of mealworms so i use them a lot. I hate the smell of crickets and roaches so buy them from pet store and use them on same day. I feed my mealworms high protein dog food so in theory they should be good nutrition

Thats really interresting as mealworms are not as protien filled as believed.
I will defenatly start a new mealworm collony.

I know they say they are high in fat buy i have never had problems with mine. My tarantulas grow quite fast and never seen them turn a mealworm down when not in premoult
