| fantastic pictures!!! all very healthy and beautiful spiders i especially like the Orphnaecus sp. Negros and Cyriopagopus sp. beautiful specimens! is the Cyriopagopus sp "Singapore Blue?" with that vivid purple, i'd guess it's immature? am i close? gotta love the African specimens in there as well, and that is a lovely pic of a G pulchripes (ex aureostriata), showing even the colouration of the femurs, which is hard to see in inadequate light. you've captured the colours amazingly. |

| Hi..... Beautiful Cyriopagopus sp.(sure it's not Lampropelma violaceopes) ? And a very beautiful Orphnaecus sp. Negros. I also like your Pterinochilus murinus(OBT).I have two unsexed of P. murinus! They are very cool.......Also your Ephebopus murinus is a beautiful girl All in all...beautiful tarantulas, all in good shape! G.aureostriata is actually a nice t..... |

yes sir....it is a singapore blue....and still a juvie...hehehe...and its a female...im not that expert when it comes in taking pitures...maybe its just..im lucky..hehehe...i used a sony digicam...10 mega pixel...

hehehe...it was sold to me as singapore blue....hehehe....the other one is singapore violet(Lampropelma violaceopes)?.......let just see when it reaches adulthood..heheheh

| i guess that's the thing, to my (admittedly uneducated) eye...Cyrio sp "Singapore blue" / Lampropelma violaceopes (you see them sold as both over here in the UK...one seller actually uses both names as there is doubt) looks alot more like Cyriopagopus schioedtei, with exceptionally long legs (longer than schioedtei admittedly), and general build that is very similar to C. schioedtei...not to mention how similar they look before maturation, with the exception of the violet/blue legs (both colours are present usually, just have to tilt in the light to see both, from what i am told)...Lampropelma are often very stocky spiders, and personally i think they look completely different.
still though, there are perhaps other traits i am not aware of, but the general build to me suggests this species isn't Lampropelma...but i guess we shall see once the doubt is cleared up... |

Well, I am not so sure, I am guessing out from the ventral latero hairs, they make all the differences to me in this case! And this is only based on 1year with tarantulas;) I bought my L. violaceopes just as it was officially described again, this time by Søren Rafn and classified as L.violaceopes. in 2008.
There are several Cyriopagopus ssp. sold as "blue tiger whatever" ...Even Haplopelma lividum has been sold around as Cyriopagopus sp. blue "?"
But there are some differences in the arboreals from Borneo and their Malaysian relatives.
It seems like the Borneo arboreals have more incrassated n anteriored legs as juveniles than their Malaysian relatives. |

| from what i was told, "Singapore" blues are actually Malaysian...so it doesn't seem a stretch. you're probably right about those hairs, i am just going by another fairly knowledgeable chap, Mark Pennell, one of the BTS guys, who says there is still a bit of doubt and some more debate is needed... apparently it isn't all that clearcut (as usual) |
