Some local friends were going to a show today and asked if I wanted anything. I shared some emp sexing pics and asked them to keep an eye out for a female for $10 or less.
They brought this $7 beauty home.

Yup, grain mites! The first time I've ever seen them in person.
I don't want to do the dry ICU tank as she's most likely gravid. I've already moved a few predatory mites over from my other tanks in the hopes that they'll control the grain mites. I can also (hopefully) bring a few predatory mites home from work, though I'm not sure how well leaf-dwelling species will fare in soil.
My hope is that I'll get a brood from her, take care of the mites, and then my three subadult males will mature . . . then I can try for another brood.
