PostSubject: Getting a L.Q.   3/9/2008, 6:05 pm

Well my A. Australis is not doing so hot and will probably be put in the freezer tonight. I spoke with the manager at the local pet store I bought her from. He said if they had another they would do an exchange, but they don't. Apparently they just got a few L.Qs in and the manager said he would give me a nice discount on one. They haven't been priced or put out yet, so we will see how it works out.

Another thing is they don't keep their inverts well at all. They are all in deli cups which isn't bad but some are in ridiculously tiny deli cups. They said they don't know much about scorpions and they are hiring for help. The only problem is they don't pay anything close to what I am getting paid now. I'm not sure how to work it out, but those inverts deserve better. Any ideas?

. . . I wonder if that's what led to your australis' death.

Maybe you could tell the manager some of the basics of scorpion care to help them out. It doesn't sound like it's in your best interest to work there, financially speaking.

The Lqs I saw at a show last month were $40 each.

Why you dont you just let them know the way they SHOULD be kept and hint that maybe the bad way they are kept possibly caused your LQ's death.
Its worth a shot, it would say so many more from suffering the same fate

Work out a trade you go in there and help them out for a couple of hours and for exchange for feeders/ supplies and what not.. thats what I've done at a local pet store in my neck of the woods

For the original ? straight trade should be in order...

Well I talked to two of their managers. They said the owner is very strict about their 3 day return policy. But both said they would work out some sort of deal like $10 off. The L.Q. is $36 so I guess that isn't too bad. You think that they would offer some sort an exchange.

As far as their husbandry, I am going to talk to them today about how they are keeping them and offer some help/advice on whatever I can. Some of the employees are nicer than others, we'll see how that goes.

I have talked to him and in the future I hope to get my scorps from him, but I want to work out something with this company because of what happened.

Smile

You could try to get a part time job there and you could possibly even be the arachnid specialist and still bring invaluable information to the scorpions there and make sure they are kept in suitable environments (temp, humidity, etc).

A good suggestion, but it doesn't sound like it's a financially viable option:
