Its not gonna be long till my Hetersometrus Petersii babies leave mum but im wondering how ill get past mum to get them out the burrow and how to handle them, with a paintbrush into a wee pot them put them in the nursery?

And secondly i just read a bit of Mr. Mordax's U. Mordax breeding repoert and he said "Enough juveniles had left Specimen 4's back by July 26th to warrant separating them." does that mean he picked them off mums back? how woul you do this cause i really need to get the male back in there

I could see that they had all molted to second instar, but I wasn't going to remove them until most had wandered off on their own (meaning by that point I knew they were capable of surviving without mom).

The easiest way to get past mom is to remove any hides and simply tail her into a temporary container (anything she can't climb out of will work fine). I say tail her because she probably won't be in a mood to be herded into a cup or onto a hand.

Once she's out of the way it'll be easier to herd the young into containers to relocate them.

There were a couple still on her back. Those I sort of scootched off or they came off on their own when I removed mom.

When I separated my V. spinigerus brood there were still quite a few on her, but at least half the brood had already left, and they were all fluorescing so I knew they were fully hardened and ready to separate. I brushed them off of her (gently) and moved mom so I could safely rehouse everyone.
