If that one in the picture is the actual one you have I would think its way past 7 months old because its tail is no longer white. I dont know how long each instar lasts but I would think that 7 months to be that far is to fast. But I could be completely wrong...

A) that's a file photo of Heterometrus spinifer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Asian_forest_scorpion_in_Khao_Yai_National_Park.JPG

B) "King emperor scorpion" isn't a valid common name, and probably refers to the Emperor Scorpion, Pandinus imperator.

C) NO emperor is worth $70.

I don't want to be an arse, but I don't think that's a spinifer. albino

The point I was trying to make is that the photo itself has been around longer than the advertised scorpion . . .

why are you intimidated by your Emp? Defiantly don't need anything aggressive or deadly until you aren't afraid of your emp. Respect is good but fear can get you hurt and that's not only talking about scorpions. I personally, even though I just started, don't see any point in holding any species that is medically significant. Remember these aren't like a dog you don't pet them you observe them and think of how interesting it is that they haven't changed in millions of years. My opinion if you want an adrenaline rush skydive or play paintball(I do) but if you want an interesting non conventional hobby get scorps.

Nowhere did I state I wanted an adrenaline rush...
and its not fear more then respect. I have never and will never handle any scorpion.
why? Because they are intimidating... I think evolution ment it to be that way.
When I look at my emp its deffinatly not in fear, but with extreme interest in every movement he makes. I love him deeply... but still will never put my hand near him. I think he likes it that way too.

I didn't mean you are the adrenaline kind of person I was just talking I guess but some people are and I never really understood why people want to own/hold things that can kill them lol. If they want to thats fine with me but I wont be doing it lol.
I think buying stuff out of the classifieds is probably a bad idea because you don't really know the age or how it was cared for. But with that said the equipment alone would probably be more than 100 bucks...Idk that might be an ok deal if you can handle the fattail if not stay clear I guess.

well, the poster seems to be fairly intelligent, IE: Scorpion was listed in scientific name, age and even recent behavior/feeding habits is all included in the desc, But I dont have any experience outside my emp, so I think ill try slowly going up in toxicity, instead of going straight from placid/safe to Agressive/venomus. I think our next addition will be some small bark scorpions... only slightly more venomus.
