Glad you found it informative, I'll be glad to answer any questions you guys post here regarding their captive care. I hesitate to call myself an expert but I can push these little guys around with sufficient confidence. Razz

And just to add to that, for transferring tiny scorplings , my tools of choice are: - a spoon, a little brush and a strip of rough-sided paper for them to cling on.

I think the choice of tools determine the method lol

Temporary Housing While I anticipated setting them up in these: -

LXDNG79 - Breeding and Raising Liocheles australasiae – the Dwarf Wood Scorpion Temporary6
I held them temporarily in these: - two deli cups stuffed with scrunched up damp paper towels.

This alternately makes basic, easy to manage housing for scorplings in the event that setup decisions take longer than expected lol

Just curios, where do you guys in the U.K. and the U.S. usually imported from?

How many of them do you have now? I have three in a 6" kritter keeper but it seems like there's space for more

15 breeding adults
21 subadults
roughly 30 scorplings unaccounted for.
*Only time will tell with the youngins can never be to sure.

thank you, thank you... but just to be sure, I believe remembering that waigiensis, due to the size difference in comparison to australasiae, requires a somewhat a rather different housing setup. Additionally they are not parthenogenic which means pairing is an important issue to consider... best of luck

hmmmm I would love to get my hands on some of waigensis

a 6" inch Kritter Keeper is just nice for 3 or 2. You could push it to 4 but that would be inviting territorial disputes. It also depends how you set-up the hides. It is important to remember that these scorpions use the bark they hide under as a conductor for detecting the vibrations of passing prey. So during dusk, some may choose to move around a bit. If one were to crawl onto the bark surface inhabited by another individual, that would be ringing the dinner bell for the resident.

If you don' mind you could post a pic of your Liocheles setup and I would be more than happy to give you some suggestions.

Al, can adults be kept in that crumpled tissue method, long term?

sorry for the late reply, the week at work took a hold on me.

Lester, nice one... could be from me as well, check with Ryo lol... in anycase.... giid stuff

Eric (delirium) - temporary at best, long term will grow mold

Kuma, Your setup looks neat considering the resolution, but my recommendations for communal housing of L. aus... would be that you designate marginalized boundaries for each scorp hide and that your setup enable you to view them when they hide.

This will help you monitor the event of any cannibalism occurring so you don't dig up the bark one day to find one fat scorpion.

They will naturally find the slightest crevice to reside, even if its mean back against the glass. But for their comfort sake I leave those sides dark or away from any light source.

You can refer to my older post for a clearer picture of what I mean.
https://scorpionforum.darkbb.com/scorpion-pictures-videos-f13/my-liocheles-australasiae-collection-t1962.htm

However is you want them to breed, I would go for individual isolation combined with power-feeding will yield many clones for your army lol

May the force be with you.

I think you mean "mass cannibalism" -- I read that as "mass cannabis," which means something VERY different. Razz

Excellent reason to separate.

Ok gonna try breeding them, hve set them up individually in these tall business card holders. They need spraying so dryer than it should be. the boxes are 10x7x6cm.
