PostSubject: P. cavimanus- strange female(?)   7/11/2009, 4:00 pm

Hi,

I bought a male and female of Pandinus cavimanus a month ago. The male is adult in contrary to female which isn' t (she is a bit smaller). What' s the problem? Male is walking in terra in the night but female is hidden (I go late sleep so I can observe them). I' m affraid because that situasion keeps going on for two weeks and she didn' t molt (she's alive Wink ). Is there any possibility that male dominates or whatever?

A hiding scorpiong is a happy scorpion. If you have checked on her and she is ok then leave it be.
He is probably walking around because he is still a bit unsure and wants to explore a bit more.

But in all honestly, pandinus cavimanus are best housed on their own as they are more agressive and prone to fighting and eating each other.

Maybe he is dominating which is why she is hiding.

Sometims also the last moult can take the longest. So dont worry about her not moulting when you want her to. She will when she is ready. But with the male around, if she moult and a fight happens, she isnt going to stand a chance really.

Thanks.

There wasn't any situation that they showed aggression to each other. They even hide in the same hole that they dug together but always male is in the front. Previous owner kept them together without any problems. About moulting- I don' t expect her to. I try find a reason to explain her behaviour...
