Okay, bird eating spidersitting while someones away, any advice? because they are large and can do the thing with the hairs right?

Can i throw in a cricket everyfew days and just leave it? or does it need some sort of specialist attention?

yeah it should be fine, they have pretty nasty urticulating hair so be careful when moving around the cage and stuff

To be honest you could just leave it and it would be fine they can go without food for a year fairly easily lmao.

I agree with Graham. Ignore it for the most part, maybe toss in one large cricket, and make sure that the water dish stays full.

Wait -- is it an adult? If so, the above advice stays. If not, just treat it like any other small T, really.

And lots of new-world Ts have the urticating hairs. Theraphosa spp. are just particularly effective.

Our one is nearly an adult and is MASSIVE!
Recently moulted and on the hunt for food, every night and day!
Nearly every other day this guy is out on the hunt waiting more and more and more!
Its an eating machine!
It was climbing the glass the other day in its search (had been going around the tank etc) and Adam opened the tank and its legs were hanging out the top, the same time he threw the cricket in, he touched the leg which made it jump and catch the cricket mid air while being thrown down and he flipped down! and he scurried off to eat under the hide and in its burrow!

When he eats locusts he NEVER eats it all. He always makes it a massive spit ball if you like and pushes it out the burrrow...easily tongs remove the left overs...yet a cricket or hopper all gets eaten

The spitball is the bolus of inedible stuff . . . crix are squishier so there's probably less that his digestive juices can't break down.
