Sad hello friends,i had purchased this tarantula recently, collected on last sunday.
due to the distance,i am forced to carry the tarantula to go through a tough ride with frequent shock on the train.
when i change her to a bigger room yesterday,i notice that her legs were not in a proper position(refer to photo posted),so i strongly believe she was experiencing certain diseases like DS syndrome or what.subsequently i ask lisa what to do and i did what should i do.
this morning, when i check her,i was pretty shocked to see she was upside down with legs facing upwards, just like the pose of moulting.i then sat down and was about watch the moulting process.the tarantula remain at the upside down position for about half an hour with old skin tearing at the abdomen while revealing the spinnerts of the new skin.which means now i saw two pair of spinnerts, one was the old, while the other one new.
half hour later, she begun to move a little, she then turned back and walk with the style of (DS) to a corner eventually stayed at the corner.
as you cAn see the tarantula was about to go for her moult, then after attempting, she decided not to moult again.is that really possible to proceed with half way moulted abdomen?

this is she

the unproper way of walking is ok,but i knew there were sure something wrong with the moult Sad

I will be honest, comparing it to our old one, the abdomen didn't look big enough to be in premoult.

I'm afraid this isn't good at all. the chances are you will lose this one.

this tarantula should not have been sold to you IMO.

I agree with Lisa it doesnt look big or bald enough for a premoult, up the humidity and temperature just a bit to be on the safe side and hope for the best

ok guys,i have some updates here.
i have to agree with lisa and lycan now,i have observed that she was actually not moulting.
i believe that she's upside down when she was climbing on the wall of the tank and fell.for a normal tarantula, they will just flip over and continue exploring, but for this weak tarantula, she has totally no energy to flip,so she remained at the upsidedown position which i suspected as moulting previously.
so now, what isl the cause of the weakness?i have given her a heavy mist and tried to make her near to the water dish..

I lost my adult female P. irminia the same way. She began to loose grip on the glass walls as well and slid down everytime she tried to climb. It took 2 whole weeks to completely drain her energy. She died in your 'moulting position' with a ruptured abdomen, possibly from a bad fall.

I honestly think you're spider is suffering the same Junshern.

She displayed all the characteristics of a tarantula suffering from dyskinetic syndrom, but I keep wondering if a tarantula dies in the same manner in its old age.

An old picture of my Irminia in her prime, she'll always have a special place in my heart.

as you said, she dropped with a rupture abdomen?which means she survived from the dyskinetic syndrom but dead due to a bad fall?
anw,im looking for a solution.
what did u do to drain her energy back?

hydration is the key. we brought our O.aureotibialis back from the brink of death... literally. She was in full death curl (despite being at 70% humidity!) She made a full recovery and as you will have seen, we have just mated her Very Happy

Turn the T over and try and put it's front legs into a shallow water dish. absolutely NO food must be offered in case the prey items attack the tarantula in its vulnerable state. Keep it warm and slightly above it's normal humidity.

If the abdomen is not leaking than that is good. However if you do spot any 'bleed' stick some substrate over the affected area.

I'm afraid this is all you can do. If it is still having no control over it's limbs and rolls away from the water, move it back. It is possible to bring a tarantula back to health even at this stage. We did it and it worked.

But I must say, prepare for the worst, then everything else is a bonus

yes lisa,i have tried to put one of her legs into the water dish.
so far she is remaining at the position.
your O.aureotibialis is awesome, she went through not only a perfect mate, but also nearly death, now even about to produce sack.
she really enjoyed her life Surprised
i hopes its time for my nhadu to enjoy...

Well even though I am pretty sure it is not a moult I dont think I would personally turn her over just to be on the safe side and avoid the chances of doing any accidental damage.
Get the humidty right up there, 70% is a good level to be at for this species you could go a bit higher than that if needed, and increase the Temps a little.
If there is still no improvement you could always look at setting up an ICU.
