Congrats on the brood it all seems to be all happening now! what is it, a spinifer?

Don't do nothing for at least two weeks but i would make sure the substrate is a lot more damp than it looks. Pour some water in there!

More concerned about the first molt. Waste of time spraying it just pour in a load of water without disturbing her and the babies

If you go down the spraying route, you'll be spraying it heavily every day which is too much disturbance for a new brood. They should shed to 2i within a week

I dun think he need to spray heavily or pour water in it though
Both me and him live in malaysia where the average humidity is around 80%
But rideon, ur substrate really dry Razz
Perhaps u need2 pour 1round

Congrats on the new brood.

If you want to minimize scorpion deaths, house them all separately. Even hets succumb to a bit of sibling cannibalism, and if they're separate, you can also make sure each gets their fair share of food.

I'd put them in a juvenile community, myself, but you said you wanted to minimize deaths. Smile

i do want to minimize death... people advice me when they reach 2i, separate them from their mother and separate them from their siblings.. so 1 scorpling per enclosure... but i wanted to experiment as some say they grew much faster with their mum and some with a community.. so let see how much brood i got then multiply them.. but mostly i will separate each of them..waht do u think?

I don't see how where they're housed could make any difference on growth rate, so long as feeding and temperature is the same. In fact, I'd suspect they'd grow slower in a community, because it's not guaranteed that they'll catch any prey.

I believe he said so because i once share this link with him in another forum
http://venomlist.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23373

According to the thread starter they grow faster being house communally
I guess its worth for an experiment
50% separate 50% individual
Since he got 1more gravid female :p

yeah i do have a new gravid female.. most probably she will give birth for another 3-5 more months... or less.. so i shall divide the scorplings into two parts. one living with mother and one individually. And we shall see how truth is the report.

After reading the link, I bet part of it had to do with mom giving the young prey . . . if she offered them more than Jeroen was giving the separated young.

Anywho, good luck with the brood. Very Happy

Best thing for survival is to cover the front with a towel and IGNORE them. I know its hard but ignore them and mother for 7 days. every other day gently open to pour in water
