check The Scorpion Files...that site should help...most of what you have listed are Buthids I do believe.

yup all buthids in that list.

the only scorpion that isn't a buthid but requires a DWA is Hemioscorpiidae: Hemiscorpius lepturus.. has a very nasty necrotoxin!

^This wouldn't really be the best place to ask without threadjacking, but a quick answer is "almost all are neurotixic and composed of small proteins."

It's actually a cytotoxin that causes necrosis so some people call it necrotoxin.

Hemotoxin = damaging to blood.

Necrotoxn = causing tissue death.

*googles ever so quick*

The Scorpion Files describe it as cytotoxic (causing cell death) which is more akin to necrosis, so I was wrong (though it does list one of the effects as haemolysis, which is the destruction of blood cells . . . ).

I searched that toxinology site and it said mainly composed of necrotoxins... would that include cytotoxins then?

also, be careful with your fingers with those species.. lol

yay for once i was right! God knows why it sticks in my mind though... may be stigg's dark nature is creeping up on me.

Anyway would love you to keep the DWA info coming. we are interested in getting one so all the information you can give will be of use to many people, including costs etc. Recommended insurers...

good luck with it all though

If you're going so far as to apply for a DWA license, I would assume you'd already know these species inside and out.

Or are you just looking at a few tips here and there from those of us who've already kept them?
