PostSubject: Hadogenes paucidens feeding   3/29/2009, 9:20 pm

My Hadogenes paucidens dosent seem like much of a feeder, when offered crickets it dosent automatically try and eat them, even after a few days of having no food. Any advice?

And also here is a picture of my scorpion can anyone tell if its a male or female by this shot, if not ill take a shot from below.

your scorpion just doesn't want food. scorpions fast for very long periods of time, especially ones with really slow metabolisms, such as Hadogenes. If I had this species, I would probably only feed/attempt to feed every 2 weeks or so.

I've had an Emp that fasted on me for well over a year. nothing to worry about. Smile

These guys can EASILY fast for a year or more, so don't panic.

Yours is a female, by the way.

There's no need to handle any scorpion, ever.

So why risk it? Smile

Male Hadogenes have ridiculously long metasomas.

That shot could be misleading because besides being small the tail is off to the side, maybe these pics can help verify!

Think you were right in saying it was a femal because the metasoma is similar to the scorp on the left, and (the bits of the metasoma) are not as long as the scorp on the right.

Nice looking scorp... I have two baby females of this species. Seems all your q's have been answered though!
