this species isn't native to britain though, they are stowaways from other countries like france and italy. there are only a few places where you can find them.

Unfortunately these scorpions have colonised on private dock land.

All the brit members were going to go on a 'scorpion hunt' weekend looking for them but unfortunately we came to a dead end with government security red tape.
Basically since all the bombings they can no longer allow the general public on site in case we are terrorists! The only way to get to see them is if you are doing an official study through university or you are filming them as part of a TV documentary crew.

If we were to 'sneak-a-peak' so to speak and got caught we would be charged under the terrorism act.

However we are not too disheartened, they have colonised so hopefully cant be in one place and so we eagerly await any news that this species have spread in the south.

They are a pretty hardy scorpion, I have a little e.flavi as well.

they tried moving part of the colony to establish another outside of the private property but the project failed.

During the hot summer they have been know to spread as far as north london area if i remember correctly. but it would be a case of catch them while you can before they are killed!

yeah keep your eyes and ears open during the summer.

I know there is someone breeding them in the north because I got mine from leeds entomological show (graham has the other one of these Smile )
I will be going again this year so if they have some more slings I will be snapping up as many as i can but i will put some up for grabs on the forum if i can get them

Adult Euscorpis spp. are roughly the size of Uroctonus spp. from North America.

Since Jordan thinks I'm making irrelevant posts, here's a link to a photo showing the Uroctonus / Euscorpius comparison.
