| there is a very low chance he died of cold unless your house was absolutely boltic during the night. it may have just been natural causes. also, keep him around for a while as he may not be dead. scorpions have had a knack for reviving these last few weeks.... |

| I doubt it was your fault.
What was your setup like?
Most emps are WC adults so it's impossible to tell how much time they have left. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

| Don't give up...you will learn so much from the people here. Read up and get another one. Emperors are very hardy scorpions. Just don't keep them in a desert set up! Good luck man |

| Yes, it was a girl. It's a shame, too, 'cause it looks like she may have been gravid.

| I'm sorry Mr. Mordax. Here's a pic of was it was like before she died. what you cant see is a small heating pad underneath the tank. and i wasnt able to get around to getting the humidity up there. I know its not the greatest set-up in the world. She was standing very funny.. |

| I dont wanna come across as harsh as youv just lost a pet, but that set up is pretty bad mate. P.imperators like nice fairly deep substrate, the ideal substrate is eco earth like this kind of stuff it holds humidity much much better than the chipping you were using and allows them to make burrows. Dont get too disheartend after all we all make mistakes when we first start and alot of us have lost inverts because of silly little slip ups. aslong as you learn and improve then its all good |

| That funny standing is called stilting -- they do it to regulate body temperature, meaning it may have been too hot for her. It's also generally recommended not to use under-tank heaters, as most scorpions burrow to escape heat, so it's counter-productive and dangerous if this burrowing only takes them closer to the heat source. Excessive heat and lack of humidity combined with an inability to burrow to find suitable conditions may have contributed to her demise. But we all make mistakes in this hobby, and the best thing to do is to learn from them and move on. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |
