Hi all, after searching for some info and images last night, I'm starting to wonder the species of my new scorpion. I was told and had thought he was H. troglodytes, but looks much closer to the H. paucidens pics I've been seeing. (that's a dollar in the pic, 27mm or 1 1/16" diameter)

Cool, thanks! Well, the shop was wrong, my initial assumption was wrong, but at least I was on the right path Smile

Care, lifespan, size, etc. similar or identical to H. troglodytes, yes?

Thanks again!

Care and such is pretty much identical.

(On a side-note, if these guys are so long-lived, all my WC adults must have been geriatric!)

Don't worry about missing the ID. I saw "flatrock" on the label of the first one I got and just assumed that meant "H. troglodytes" -- I hadn't even heard of other members of the genus.

110% male paucidens. most petshops get in genericly ordered "flat rock scorpions" many times they will look up the scientific name for a "flat rock scorpion" which is H troglodytes. but when they order flat rocks what they get is whatever the distributers send out. nowdays, that typically seems to be paucidens, although if you look them up theyre name is olive-keeled flatrock, so the two often get their names mixed up which is why hobbyists are greatly discouraged from using common names for scorpions.

^^Exactly what happened to me with my first Hadogenes -- the sticker said "flatrock" and I assumed H. troglodytes because that was the only species of that genus I knew.
