Well, seeing as I am new, here are some pictures of my little collection, and enclosures if I have the pics:

My big female emp:

Her enclosure:

And her with 2I babies just before they left her back:

My flat rock scorpions, I have two, both female, both very small:

A fat pre-moult pic. I haven't got the most recent post-moult pic. This one has moulted twice with a gap of just over 2 months.

Enclosures:

Like this, but with the addition of some eco earth in the sand:

And finally, my little stunner, the scorpio maurus, also a female:

And its enclosure:

Any enclosure or other suggestions welcome Smile

nice. but isn't it a tad soaking in the maurus' tank? I thought these needed bone dry conditions.

I think these need higher humidity than most desert sp, but I dunno..

Hey. If you look, its just around the water bowl there, where its condensed on the cool side of the tank. The rest isn't wet. I have heard not bone dry, but some slight humidity, yes.

well... the scorp has enough room to escape the humidity so its fine! good to see someone who has done their research before buying their scorps!

Thanks! Very Happy Do you know anything about keeping S. maurus communally? I have heard so many conflicting views on it. Mine is a female, and I would love to get another f/m pair to make a f/f/m trio to have a go at breeding. There are some for sale around. Would keeping a trio communally be alright, of course, in a big enough enclosure, with lots of hides on the warm and cool side, fed properly, etc etc?

you could try that. some people have success and some people dont! but that can happen with just about any scorp! you never know when one will decide it doesnt want to be communal...
if you are worried about putting them in communally you could just try keeping them seperately and introducing them for breeding... this will reduce the chances of cannibalisum or a gravid one going on a kiling spree

Thats very true. Well, I'll see if I can get hold of another pair, and decide what I do from there, thanks Smile

Nice collection. Very Happy I'm surprised to hear how fast your flatrock molted.

ah, I didn't see the other side of the picture.

anyway, people have had success keeping maurus communally, some haven't. you should give it a try if you have enough scorpions.

No worries Smile Yeh, well, I currently have one. I'll get some more, and think about how/when to introduce them together.

As much as i love glass aquariums for their scenic perspective, I'm turning on to plastic tubs...
cause they are just too easy... plus it a pain for me to make the top.

Yep, agreed. I use plastic tubs for my snakes and scorps, much easier.

Thanks! If I am honest, I lived in london the past two years, but now I live in potters bar, just north of london. But, I thought most people across the pond wont know where "potters bar" is.

If you touch our lil girl she flattens her head and throat to look like a cobra then starts false striking and sometimes opens up her mouth and waves at you lol

The topmost layer is always going to be a little more dry, but you can see moisture in the disturbed parts.

Thanks. As with this post: the top layer right next to the heat mat at the back there dries so quick its just silly. Its sprayed and kept damp though, its certainly not dry.
