Bad ratio . . .

I just got around to sexing my four juvenile emps . . . looks like I've got one female and three males, going off the shape of the operculum.



I think I'll get in touch with my local scorp contact and see if he wants to swap some juvies.

See how the one on the bottom left has a genital operculum that points slightly down? That's how you tell a female.

The other three have oval opercula that don't point up or down -- they're all males.

Bummer, dude.... or is it? you can still breed them once they hit maturity.

Uh, did you read that right? I have three males . . . only one female.

Pure awesome would be one male and three females -- then I could have up to three broods developing at once.
