very amazing. I think I've seen it on Planet Earth before. it's also cool how inteligent ants can be.

Ah, good ol' entomopathogenic fungi. Gotta love 'em. Very Happy There's a few pictures of a variety of these fungi in one of the buildings on campus where the Ent department used to be.

By the way, S111, I wouldn't describe ants as intelligent -- I describe them as a very efficient organism. Smile (Or at least functioning like one -- this example is sort of like how a multicellular organism tags and destroys cancerous cells before they doom the entire entity.)

that's kinda what I meant, I just though it was cool how they knew to dispose of the "zombified" remains.


I woudn't mind keeping an ant colony, I think it would be pretty cool to watch them.

I remember watching that. It's one way of keeping the population under control control!

The fungus might be devastating to it's host but I think they are kind of beautiful

parasites are remarkble..i love em!!too bad i didn't stay in bio long enough..i was gonna concentrate on inverts and parasites...that would of been fun research
