IMO It could be a Hadogenes, albeit a very young one. If it is, well...you'll have that one for a LONG time Very Happy

If it's Hadogenes, my guess would lean away from H. paucidens because there's no banding . . . possibly H. troglodytes? In either case, the chela don't look quite right.

Iomachus is a valid thought.

Well if it havent molted for 2 years ? thats very odd, i know hadogenes is slow growing.. but 2 years just sounds to long..
the Chela is wrong for Iomachus sp. they have these very large chela with only a very small "claw" part http://www.ub.ntnu.no/scorpion-files/i_politius(m)1.jpg

my guess whould be Liocheles sp. i think thats the best geuss for a possible sp http://www.ub.ntnu.no/scorpion-files/liocheles_sp_australia.jpg

hadogenes are pretty slow growers. at a year my little paucadins were still less than an inch long. in that time they had only shed twice! And can live for something like 20 years or so so they are no hurry to get big lol!

I would agree it looks like my Iomachus politus but altogether darker. Unfortunately out of all the Iomachus species i can only find pictures of the politus!

but on general looks it does look like part of the Hemiscorpiidae group

its not Iomachus Politus. The legs are dark.
But I havent been able to find anything on the net currently. Its taking me around and around in circles and not giving pictures nor answers.
The chela are long...but granted not as long as what I have seen.

On a side now...they have a load of Iomachus Politus babies in the shop. so cute! I had a gander at them today Very Happy

Interesting!

I took them from my boyfriend... He said he got them at a BTS show in Wolverhampton about 18 months ago, the guy said he could have had 20 of them for £20. Probably best he didn't go for the deal since we aren't sure what they are. Rolling Eyes

H. troglodytes, very young. I had a few that size and if you got it from BTS im certain we got it from the same dealer because mines was bought at the BTS and shipped here as a freebie. Then i gave it away cuz of the growth rate....last I heard. It hadnt molted but did get fat. Similar to yours.

As Abyss said, definitely Hadogenes. Notice that it has many accessory trichobothria on the pedipalps (really, really hairy arms). This eliminates Iomachus, Opisthacanthus, Liocheles, Cheloctonus etc. that superficially look the same. In the last picture, you can sort of see a ventral carinae on the metasoma that seems slightly off center indicating ventrosubmedian carinae -- Hadogenes.

Cheers,
Dave

To me it's definately {i]Hadogenes Troglodytes[/i] It just looks so similar to my Paucidens obviously without the yellow bands the hairs on the pedipalps, the shape of a carapace are so similar to my flat rock im pretty sure its H. Troglodytes

Here's the link to my thread on Bug Nation about my flat rock:http://bugnation.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=186&t=27766

Hope this helps.
