Vaejovis puritanus on the lose Empty
PostSubject: Vaejovis puritanus on the lose   Vaejovis puritanus on the lose Empty11/18/2008, 5:04 am

Okay, It seems that I may have a little scorp on the lose in my room (home). I can't seem to find him in his container. for 2 months he hasn't been able to climb onto the walls, i'm wondering if that could have change.

I did a thorough search through all the substrate, and nothing.

You think it's possible he's playing dead, or climbed up and squeezed outa the very small air vents? Now i want another, and it's rare that i ever seem them in my area.

If he could reach the lid with his pedipalps while his metasoma was fully extended, then it's possible he could have squeezed out. Your best bet is to overturn everything in your home at night with a blacklight. Start near where the tank was and work your way outward, paying special attention to warm spots.

Was about to just suggest the same as Mike.

Black light, make it dark and search EVEYTHING!!!!

Its in the house, its in the room you just have to find it.

Once, one of our cats knocked the brachypelma albo tank when it was a spiderling. OMG! what a search. It was in a box, hidden away in a HAT!

They can go anywhere those tarantulas and scorpions!

FOUND HIM!!! well the wife found him while we were cleaning the place up... she thought it was an earwig or something and was about to smash it, then took a closer look Smile

off topic, but i was hoping to get a new enclosure (glass fish tank) and use sand since this is a desert type.. anything wrong with that? so hard to see this guy with the dark brown substrate i'm using now.

Nope, nothing wrong with that. All the Vaejovis spp. I've seen were on a light-colored sandy soil.
