| I put 5 adult B. jacksoni together and today I lifted up a hide and found one of the females eating another one!!! They were all well-fed and everything... What was the reason behind it?? The scorp had been severed in half and only about half of the body and the whole tail remains (seperately). GRRRRRR!!! My first scorp death!! Time to update the sig -_- | |

| sorry 'bout that man, but there is always a chance of cannibalism with communal setups.

| They were only in there less than a week together. Prior to that, I had them separated for months... Maybe it's because I didn't have a water dish in there. I misted it daily and it almost always had crix in it. I guess it was just a random happening. I preserved my little girl in some alcohol inside of a Pepsi bottle | |

| Things like that happen, i have lost 1 or 2 allso, 1 of them was because of a molt, but i whould suggest more hides, i have alot of big bark pieces so they have alot of hidding places. | |

| There are a lot of hiding spots in my enclosure. I've just added a water dish in hopes that I won't have anymore losses...

| "They're always communal until they aren't." Even with the best species you're still going to get some degree of cannibalism. I started out with five juvie emps and 10 juvie H. longimanus and lost two of each. In a 10-gallon with six U. mordax I lost at least one. It sucks, but it just happens sometimes. | |

| I'm still baffled as to why it happened in the first place. I should probably just stick with the conclusion that it was just a random happening. I've never actually seen a dead scorpion IRL up until now Btw, it was a female that ate a female. | |

| It just happens these scorps arent exactly 100 percent communal. I've also noticed with b.jacks that the ones I kept communally for while did ok and then when i introduced a new one it almost always got eaten. | |

| Feed them daily for a week or two and you should be fine. | |

| I'll try that and see how it goes. I went out and got some crix today and put 6-8 of them in there earlier.
I'm still trying to think of why she ate her...
Could it be because it was too hot and it sped up their metabolisms? They didn't have food for about 2-3 days. Also, they didn't have a water dish. I misted them occasionally and half of the substrate is moist. | |

| I don't think you'll find any "good" reason. It just happens sometimes. | |
