Some people have problems with these but I haven't had any problems apart from the female killing the male... so non communal lol
I have similar set up to that of the CK's. Sand at the bottom, 50/50 sand forest bed, and mainly forest bed with a little sand for the top. I would strongly advise the layering because I have know a lot of people only able to keep these for a couple of months before they die. The layered substrate does seem to be a key factor in keeping these.
I didn't have time to totally dry the substrate but a little dampness hasn't done them any harm while it has been drying out. But ideally yes leave to dry out
Some stones in for them to burrow under but will usually burrow where they feel like it. Although my fat female likes to hide under a pile of stones in the corner.
I keep mine at about 27 Degrees C day temp / room temp on night. they are mainly active at night but can be seen wondering around during the day.
Watch how much you feed them they will gorge themselves then you wont see them for ages while they digest it all.
Misting once a week and waterbowl for moisture.
Normal room humidity is fine.
Tarantula barn are selling 5 for £20 at the moment, sub adults i think.
But all in all a scorpion with a lot of attitude. their sting more painful than emps etc. They can be highly aggressive and charge at your hand. They are fast too so watch out when housekeeping.
I love em lol!
