Okay so I bought a bag of sand from home depot today (the kind for sand boxes) and was just makin sure...That stuff would work for burrowing with a H. arizonensis right? I also bought a 5 pound bag of repti sand for top sub to put on top of the sand from home depot for dry sand on top/ moist wet on bottom...

Either of those should work . . . but I'm a little confused about your dry top / moist bottom. The best bet is to mix sand with Excavator clay (so it's 70% sand 30% Excavator) and soak the whole thing, then let it air dry. Makes burrows work a whole lot better.

Dry sand alone won't hold a burrow at all, and sand that's been wetted and dried will only do a so-so job of holding burrows. I kept getting collapse until I added the clay.

Well like 10cm of sand from home depot. Every 2 cm i would wet the entire sand then add another 2 cm and continue to 10. Then add 2cm of repti sand on the top so she can pick if she wants to stay dry or be humid/moist in tunnel.

You're not supposed to put them in when it's still wet, though -- and that still wouldn't support a burrow very well.

If your goal is to mimic the ability to burrow to moisture as they can in the wild, it would be incredibly difficult to recreate in captivity. Your best bet would be to have an access-tube like in a false-bottom so you could add moisture from underneath, but it would require fine-tuning to not over-humidify and wind up killing your scorpion.

atm I have 100% excavator clay in the cage at its rock solid form. Could I get the clay out and break it up into its old form again and mix it with the sand?
