This is my Hadogenes Paucidens. Don't know quite how old it is, but still fairly young.
Just to let you see the size:
(It's a bit smaller than my 1,5 y o emperors if that helps)

The problem is that I recently discovered that it had something white stuck on one of its cheliceraes. It appeared to be hard, as if it was a grain of sand stuck there or something. A few days later I couldn't see it.
But now it's back, and even more.

Sorry for not having better pictures. I would get a macrothingie for my cam if the damn things didn't cost so much!
Anyone know what that is. Pictures taken a few days ago. It is hiding under some rocks now, so I can't see how its going.
It hasn't eaten in 2 months or so. I know they can go for ever without eating, but I would think it would need some food to grow. Razz

Also, my B. smithi molted yesterday! cheers
Link to pictures here.

I knew a guy who had a similar problem with his adult female H. paucidens -- I think it was because of the type of sand, some of it got stuck around her mouthparts when she fed.

My suggestion would be to take her out, gently swab her mouthparts with a wet Q-tip to break it up and remove it (I know this would be difficult with a species as skittish as this one, but maybe you can immobilize her with paper towels or something?), and change her substrate to something else. I kept mine on dry coco fiber with some sand mixed in. I never had any problems using garden supply sand.

Best of luck fixing her up. Smile

I have the similar problem. It is dust from the sand. But I don't think it is a (big) problem, because there is also dust in the wild.

I take it it's not very dangerous then. Smile
Thanks all. Smile
I will change the whole terrarium in not long. Trying some new substrate mixes and decorate a little better in most of the cages.
My Smithi says thanks, bjaeger. Very Happy

Yeah, I love the paucidens. A little skittish, but the nicest scorpion there is. Smile

That's weird because my emp wasn't on sand when I got her. She was on wood chips (Yeah, I know... GRR! Dumb pet stores!). I suppose that lack of humidity could also be the cause.
