| i think the big porblem with hadrurus sp is that they have a hard time during molting but nothing like a challenge | |

| I think the problem is getting the proper amount of humidity -- in the wild, they dig deep burrows so they can adjust the humidity based on what part of the burrow they're in. In captivity, it's almost impossible to replicate that same type of humidity gradient. | |

| hmmm could this be achieved by doing a false bottom tank set up?
I actually read about this the other day in me new book, about the juvi's being really hard to rear.

I actually read about this the other day in me new book, about the juvi's being really hard to rear. this level of humidity is too much for a desert based scorpion and mycosis is a great risk.
The young in captivity cant have too much humidity but also not enough can cause death when moulting.
Members on here I believe have put certain amounts of drops of water under hide to allow the scorpion to pick and chose where it wants to moult or feels it can moult as best as possible

| The best way to keep them alive is to send them to me.LOL. Seriously I can care for them i have a HUGE enclosure just for Desert Hairies. I'll post a pic of my one and only baby ( i sold off the rest...it was a 911). | |

| You'd need a REALLY deep false-bottom to mimic a natural humidity gradient. Which is why it's so tough. | |

| Btw, i have a terrarium that i made for the Iguana that i had, 200x100x180cm, would have been fun to have a BIG kolony of scorpions in there | |

| how mad would that be. If you had a community of scorpions in the tank that was wide enough for them to live but narrow enough to mean that you would see burrows going all the way down against the side of the glass.... that would make for one hell of a feature wall in ya room wouldn't it?
sorry im taking this thread to another one of my dream worlds lol!
