| No, it wasn't the one from the "guess" thread. I glanced over a few scorps this afternoon before leaving for the weekend and saw that one of my V. spinigerus looked dead. Turned out she was -- and that she was one I thought may be gravid. After ascertaining that she was indeed gravid, and that she smelled fresh, I opened her up and collected the babies onto a damp paper towel in a delicup. Wish me luck. I'm aware that the chances of this working are astronomically small, but you never find out unless you try, right? And I know Quiz had at least a little success. No pics at the moment. Some look developed, some don't, and none were moving. | |

| Thanks, all. I'd PM quiz but there's not a whole lot I can do as I'm gone until Sunday. The deli has a reservoir of water to keep it nice and humid and it's been warm in our apartment lately. I told the guy who's cat-sitting to toss it if they get all nasty and decomposing. | |

| The ones that look undeveloped, I doubt it. There's no hormonal signals or nutrients coming from mom any more.
I showed Kejser a photo this morning (sorry I forgot to post it) and there's a few that look almost like perfect little first instars still in their embyronic membrane. They're just too small for me to manipulate so it's up to them to make it out (assuming they're still alive). | |

| Hate to break it to everyone, but no such luck. I checked on them yesterday -- two had little fungal fruiting bodies coming up, and the "developed" ones didn't look so developed anymore. I gently nudged a few to see if they would move, and they sort of . . . popped. But hey, at least I gave it a shot. | |

| I honestly didn't expect it to work -- the only time I'd heard of it working was, IIRC, when the young either fell off of or were rejected by the mother. But "what the hell," I thought, "let's give it a shot anyway." | |
