| So today I found one of my emperor females laying on the ground away from the burrow. I nudged her and she didn't move. I flipped her over and finally realized she was dead. This is my first arachnid death and I have to say: it really sucks... I'm rather upset right now. Tonight I've decided I'm going to redo the entire setup, include a false bottom, larger water dish, the works. I don't know how this happened. They just got fed a few days ago and everyone seemed active and healthy. The temperature did drop dramatically today but it only changed a few degrees in their setup. This really really sucks. |

| Well, I had my second death today. One of the newborns drowned in like half a mmL of water. |

| The first death is always the shocker... Sorry to hear about yours. I just had my second brood of H paucidens, they were promptly ate as they came out and tried to get on the moms back. If you had an adult it was probably just age that done it in, I had one male drop dead drinking from the water dish. Found him face down in the dish. |

| I agree with the age diagnosis. I'm sorry to hear about your loss (my first death was a cool H. laoticus I'd had for less than a month). I'm sorry to hear about your munchies as well, Thaedion! all around. _________________ If your emperor scorpion stops eating, don't panic. | My reviews | My Bug Pictures | My blog Be nice -- you were a noob once, too "Never ask an engineer to explain something, because he will." |

IF the temp dropped a lot it might just haved slowed down. Try to heat it up and see if it starts moving again. -Eddy |

| I've heard the ressurection stories so I put him in an ICU just before work. Not back yet... Telson is still white so it wasn't even mature... Sad day, here's a pic. |

| As terrible as losing a scorp can be, it completely changed my keeping habits. After my first Emp (Napoleon) died, I looked all over the 'Net for info on what I did wrong. Now, I have two new Emps, and about 8 tarantulas, a colony of isopods, and three millipedes. Did I mention that Napoleon was my first invert, and that I was pretty arachnophobic before I got him? |
